Restaurant UpSkilling
White Mountain Economic Development (WMED) partners directly with restaurants across Northern Arizona to strengthen their teams and create clearer pathways for employee advancement through its Restaurant UpSkilling Program.
This initiative helps restaurant owners and managers invest in their workforce by providing targeted, role-specific training for positions such as Greeter/Host-Hostess, Waiter/Waitress, Bar Staff, Cleaning Staff, Cook Staff, and Management. Each track includes a series of short, accessible video lessons designed to build confidence, refine skills, and prepare employees for promotion within their current workplace.
In addition to providing training, WMED works with participating businesses to track training progression and metrics through WMED’s SkillUP and online learning management system. This system allows managers to track employee progress as well as providing a certification of completion for each employee. The program also has a specific focus on youth who wish to explore careers in the hospitality industry.
